The company held a series of meetings with the Association of Internet Users (AUI) and other Internet groups to hear these customers' points of view. As a result of these contacts, Telefonica has launched its new Discount Plans for Internet.

The discount plans are offered in two forms: The BonoNet plan offers special prices for a set number of hours, while the MasterNet Plan provides discounts as a function of the volume of Internet usage.

BonoNet Plan

This plan is based upon bonuses for a set number of hours of connection to a single telephone number in Telefonica's basic telephone network. The special price will be applied starting from the first second consumed between 20:00 hours (8 p.m.) and 8 a.m. the following day on working days and all day during weekends and national holidays.

The subscription to each Bonus will have a one-time startup fee.

The bonuses must be consumed within 30 calendar days from the date specified by the customer.

There are three types of BonoNet, depending on the amount of time consumed:

BonoNet 10 hours. The price of each bonus is 1,600 pesetas [18,90 DM]. The nominal price per hour is 160 pesetas [1,89 DM/h]. The maximum discount is 40.74 %. The startup fee is 150 pesetas [1,77 DM].

BonoNet 30 hours. The price of the bonus is 4,000 pesetas [47,30 DM]. The nominal price per hour is 133.33 pesetas [1,58 DM/h]. The maximum discount is 50.60 %. The startup fee is 250 pesetas [2,95 DM].

BonoNet 100 hours. The price of the bonus is 13,000 pesetas [153,60 DM]. The nominal price per hour is 130 pesetas [1,54 DM/h]. The maximum discount is 51.85 %. The startup fee is 500 pesetas [5,90 DM].

The BonoNet Plan is compatible with the PrimaNet Plan. During the hours in which they coincide (from 20:00 to 22:00 hours), only the BonoNet Plan would be applied.

The BonoNet Plan is incompatible with the MasterNet Plan.

MasterNet Plan

Telefonica offers discounts based on the volume of calls by clients to a single telephone number in the basic telephone network. The company applies different discounts according to number of connection hours.

The discounts will be applied according to the following scale:

The discounts will be applied starting on the first second of time consumed between 20:00 hours and 08:00 hours the following day during working days and all day during weekends and national holidays.

The MasterNet Plan will have a startup fee of 250 pesetas [2,95 DM] per month.

The MasterNet Plan will be compatible with the PrimeNet Plan. During the hours in which both coincide (from 20:00 to 22:00 hours), only the MasterNet Plan will be applied.

The MasterNet Plan is incompatible with the BonoNet Plan.

Telefonica's discount plans for Internet Users are a followup to the PrimaNet Plan, which went into effect on July 31. The PrimaNet Plan offers a discount of 30% on local calls to three numbers chosen by the customer. The discount, for calls made between 20:00 and 08:00, goes into effect after the first 10 minutes of usage. The monthly fee is 250 pesetas [2,95 DM].

Telefonica has in recent months carried out several important initiatives to help develop Internet usage in Spain.

Besides providing connection at a local telephone rate (the lowest rate), the company in July signed an accord with the Education Ministry to give free Internet access to some 6 million students at 20,000 public and private schools across Spain. During the summer, the InfoShow promotional tour brought Internet closer to some three million people in 75 Spanish cities.
